Industry Involvement — Creating Better Receivables-Buying Practices, Education, and Reputation

At Security Credit Services, we strongly believe that, in order to best serve consumers, it’s important for us to be involved in both our industry and local communities. Industry involvement helps us keep up with laws and regulations and be leaders in furthering best practices and compliance within our field. These efforts in turn ultimately result in a better experience for the consumer as they strive to regain their financial independence.

Our volunteerism and other community efforts keep us close to our customer base. These endeavors allow us opportunities to give back to and support local organizations in the municipalities and neighborhoods where both we and our customers live.

Trying to Improve Reputation Within the Industry

Security Credit Services is a member of the leading trade association, the Receivables Management Association International (RMAI), and was also one of the first receivables purchasers to obtain a certificate of compliance from the organization. Through membership in and certification by the RMAI, Security Credit Services has worked to further a higher level of receivables-buying and collection practices in the industry.

RMAI standards exceed those laid out in laws and regulations set by the Federal Trade Commission, other federal agencies, and state and local governments. The RMAI Receivables Management Certification Program and Code of Ethics set the global standard within the receivables industry due to the rigorous uniform standards of best practice, which focus on protecting consumers.

What’s the Purpose?

Through its involvement in the RMAI, Security Credit Services also has opportunities to network with other receivables-buying companies, legal professionals, consultants, receivables collection agencies, and other industry professionals. These relationships help Security Credit Services to better serve consumers through relationships with experts in other areas of the country and in specialty asset categories. In addition, the association provides education programs for members, and advocates for the receivables-buying industry at both the state and federal level.

Security Credit Services is also a member of the Commercial Law League of America. This organization seeks fair, equitable, and efficient collection efforts. It also provides education and networking opportunities for those in the collections and credit industry.

Advocating for Business

Two of Security Credit Services’ key executives have served in leadership roles at the RMAI and as such have advocated for better practices, laws, and industry reputation. They have assisted with developing best practices and advocating for better compliance with industry standards, helped to educate legislators, and furthered certification within the industry for receivables-buying firms and individual compliance officers.

Kaye Dreifuerst, Security Credit Services’ president, has served as a board member and President of the RMAI, as well as participated frequently in legislative meetings. Brett Soldevila, Security Credit Services’ Chief Compliance Officer, currently serves as a board director and formerly led the RMAI’s Certification Council and Standards Committee.

Volunteerism

In addition to being involved in trade associations, Security Credit Services encourages our employees to serve in their local communities. Our company supports, through both time and donations, a number of organizations. These include, but are not limited to, Doors of Hope Transitions Ministries, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Leap Frog Program in the Oxford area.
